A recent comment on a photo showing the way women used to be but are now:

I can easily see this happening then and overlooked now. Outside of the US, I have heard nurses referred to as “Sister”. Could this be part of the tradition from nursing orders both Anglican and Catholic?

I recommend ‘Call the Midwife’ by the BBC – a good insight into such matters
