I didn’t put it there. I don’t support gay marriage.
LATER: Apparently this banner was a temporary banner only visible to the blogger. People complained but WordPress were obfuscating the issue. It was some corporate virtue signalling after the US Supreme Court decision. I don’t know why it has suddenly appeared on my blog. If other people can’t see it, good. I hope it goes away altogether.

I can see the thing on my (private) blog and it irritates the hell out of me – they should keep their politics, even politcs I support, out of my blog. Plus their banner is ugly and distracting.

Hi. I am an Australian with a WP dot com hosted site also. The rainbow appears on my site in the last few days too. It is only for other bloggers who are logged into their WP dot com account, even when they are viewing another site hosted by the same company (Automatic. I think it is only for Australian viewers currently because of the Rainbow Fascist Plebiscite coming up which will allow gay marriage if passed, but be disregarded as a first-of-infinity attempt if voted down because it isn’t binding.
Clearly, Silicon Valley has no problem what so ever pushing political agendas, even if it harms the market penetration of their product/service. Unfortunately, I had just renewed for a year with WP dot com, but since this is the second time they have rubbed political sh^t in my face, I won’t be renewing next year, and will go through the very time consuming and expensive task of migrating my material and site over to a new hosting service.
I have become resolved to do all in my power, now, after the last few years of this ideological totalitarian garbage, to steer clear of ANY product/service connected with silicon valley, even if it means that I have to go without. Apple & Android for instance, control 99% of the smartphone operating systems … how long before we all turn our phones on to get a Big Brother political warning about the latest wrong-think we have committed in our personal communications?
It’s utterly infuriating, and I know many people who aren’t religiously averse to gay marriage, but are voting NO in the plebiscite because they can see the modus operandi of these thought-police for what it is: DANGEROUS!
If you want to know how to remove it temporarily (not that we should HAVE to play around in order to remove it), read the following about the 2015 application of the banner, which was also visible not just in the USA but in Aus too.

It turns out that WordPress have added this border in support of the gay marriage campaign currently underway in Australia. Generally I have found WordPress to be pretty good about censorship issues, but this compulsory application of a rainbow border is offensive.
I can remove it temporarily. But it comes back. It is corporate bullying. I look forward to the banner going away.

I have looked on some of the forums where users have asked for it’s removal and the response from WordPress is very disappointing….they seriously do not understand that there are people out there, me included who do not what this feature on their blog.
