AWAKE

Awake

Fearful the moaning

of the wind,

far worse when it begins

to speak

however low and

indistinct

of what you suspect

but dare not think,

rising and falling

like a conversation

in another room,

soft then loud

like bad news arriving.

There are some similarities. While we are going into fall, you are going into spring. You’ll see flowers soon. Yay!

This has nothing to do with the post, but it is an animal rescue video. Somebody saved Bullwinkle’s sweetie. It is something you won’t see in Australia.

I’ll post this comment early, in the hope that you clear it in time for Christmas. I do see to be on a large fauna run. It was well received elsewhere because of mention of Finland. If I don’t hear from you, Merry Christmas!

She’s cute. She’s French. She sings. What else could you want?

I stumbled across this while getting lost in Youtube music videos. Better to link it now than forget later. It is a gem.

  6. Interesting. What would your poetic influences are?

I don’t have specific influences that I can name. I like Shakespeare, Marvell, GM Hopkins, Coleridge. Australian poets I like include AD Hope and David Campbell.

This poem got rejected by a place that often takes my stuff. I thought it was good but it didn’t please the editors.

She really is cute but she is far too young for me. *sniff*

If the young brunette won’t do it for you, how about the redhead? I know that you like her and I do too.

In a previous post, you wanted the best Hell March that could be found. This may be it.

Excellent. Although those stirring speeches probably only work well when you have Roman army discipline to back you up.

You have a point there. Discipline won’t help much against rockets, but it will against elephants. Still, for sheer hilarity, the Pichachu army was best. This one is pretty good for variety. They even have nurses.

The Italians look pretty good. Bella Figura.

Those very ornate feathery hats remind me of those worn by some British colonial governors.

There must be a lot of ostriches out there that are mad and want their feathers back. There is a lot of history of Italy after the fall of the Roman Empire. As for the feathers, it was everybody.

I hope that this helps. I have not linked Francoise Hardy in a long time. She is every bit as cute as I remembered.

You were the one that broke the news to me about the destruction of Notre Dame. Here is a progress report from the BBC. The restoration is being seen as a labor of love and a source of national pride. It should be done in time for the Olympics in 2024.

Hooray! How about something VERY French, the national anthem sung by Roberto Alagna, since you don’t like Mirielle Matheiu rolling her Rs. At least he is brunette. šŸ™‚

I think I did like MM rolling her Rs. Deliciously rhotic.

I really find La Marseillaise is the best national anthem, tied with The Star-Spangled Banner.

        Then, here is Mirielle Mathieu.

I did see one version in which she played a trick on Nicholas Sarkozy. There is a fourth verse and he thought she was done with three.

There is also my favorite cartoon brunette singing her national anthem.

It’s really sad about Russia. Putin has destroyed the formidable reputation of its military. He really was living in the past in the most unhealthy way.

Building up the Red Army didn’t happen in a day. The Germans almost made it to Moscow. Soldiers reporting took the tram to the end of the line and had a short walk. I have heard from someone inside Donbass that the Russians are trying something new to them, minimizing collateral damage to civilians and infrastructure. The fat lady has not sung yet.

I have seen a similar video with a giraffe beating the stuffing out of a lioness. The lioness went after her baby.

I think that we may need a new poem to start a new thread. This one is getting hard to load with all the video links.
    Roses are red
    Violets are blue
It’s fun to be a silly bear
    You can be one too.
