PENCIL

PENCIL

Pencil thin.
Sharp but untried.
I met you in a tutorial,
your voice first
from down the table,
then the author
of that voice.
The persona. The person.
The body.
Your colours, black
and white, and a grey
skirt. A pencil skirt.
Pencil grey.
A scholar, without
a stoop. Straight. Linear.
Apart from schoolgirl
curves.
How to hold you?
How to fit you in my hand?
To start to write.

Boys at that age are so vulnerable to rejection. I hope that the one in a grey skirt had a generous heart.

      Amazing … and mystifying.

The features that make Anime different work well with girls but not with boys. I think that this has been called “neoteny”. This makes them cute and endearing.

There is one more point about the Anime girls that I would like to make. All of them look different, no two are the same. This blows to smithereens a stereotype about Japanese women.

I wish that someone else would help with finding brunettes. This one is not much to look at, but she can sing! She made this song famous.
