Notre Dame

Notre Dame, April 2019

Life holds out
a blackened branch
Notre Dame is burning.
Where is my heart?
Dying in an upstairs room.

Notre Dame will be restored. It was not that long ago that Windsor Castle had a fire and they were lucky that nothing irreplaceable was lost.

Did you notice in one of the photographs of the damage that occurred during the fire, a pile of rubble sits where the novus ordo altar used to be; while the traditional altar behind it was left unscathed.

I hadn’t. I have to wonder why someone would do something like that? There is a basic tenet, “Don’t try to fix anything that is working.”

I heard that the last time the cathedral was given a full restoration, Napoleon was about to be crowned Emperor. Who knows what will come to light when they go to work?
