Grassland

Between the satellite cities
the native grassland survives
beside the hurtling highway
with blue devils prickly among
the kangaroo grass and
retiring reptilian rarities.

An unfashionable ecosystem
small and simple only found
valuable as it is nearly gone
with signs of explanation
at quiet corners where wire
meets wire.

I can see how grassland has its place, it is just that bears prefer trees.

He took a wrong turn in Albuquerque?
There was a rumor of bees giving away honey?
In all seriousness, you would have to ask him, and, given the passing of time, it is unlikely that he is available for comment.
