Linemen and Washerwomen

I have noticed that when the environment becomes harder, women tend to become a bit more feminine. It has even been said that feminism is merely a side-effect of comfort and prosperity. In any case, I thought this was a nice addition to the annals of the sexes working together.

    I am having a hard time seeing this as genuine gratitude. Am I being cynical?

      It’s an exchange of services for goods, the ancient sexual contract. But more than that, it does seem to indicate the gratitude of the women to the men that are getting their electrical power back up.
