I think you just pointed out something about human sexuality that is very different from animals. I am going to guess that this has something to do with bipedal ambulation.

It gets called “missionary” but I understand that it is pretty much the standard human sexual position. I have heard a theory that women have well-cushioned buttocks to make the position more comfortable and feasible, although that seems a bit fanciful to me.
When a girl is young and flexible, it can be good to put her legs over your shoulders. It allows deep penetration. But the top illustration is how it should be done. The second illustration just looks like they are doing yoga together.

For some of us poor sots 50+ years on. position #2 at least leaves our hearts still pumping at the end of a session. The first one is for newlyweds, with jackhammer loins and supple flexibility.
Right now love making consist more of a smack on the rump and a “roll on your side baby, daddy’s want’s some lovin’.
After 30yrs, I’m beat.
