Three new photos of Carolyn Farina

I haven’t seen these photographs before. I have written about Carolyn Farina a few times on this blog (I admit to having a “screen crush” on her). These pictures were presumably taken when Metropolitan (1990) was being released. Miss Farina (the short-haired brunette) was about 26 years old.

This remains my favourite shot of her, from about the same time.

She is cute, bright eyed, and ideal as an actress because she can pass for ordinary and look great dressed to the nines.

I have thought about how to describe her a few times. I have concluded that she is a rare kind of girl who is exceptionally pretty. Not beautiful or sexy. Just terribly pretty. With a very animated face.

Of course she pushes my personal buttons too. (She never seemed to take up with a man in real life. Ironically, I suspect she is a Lesbian.)

She got into movies just as her looks peaked. In Metropolitan she was about 26. She appeared in four more films but in minor roles and her bloom had faded. In one of these movies, she was on camera for about 15 seconds and had no lines.

From the photos above alone, I can see why she tugs at your heart strings. She is a bright eyed imp.

Thanks. I think that’s the first clip of the actress from that movie that I have seen. I feel that Scorsese underused her, and I wonder why he thought to make the movie in the first place. It’s not really his area.
