She is a short haired brunette with an engaging smile. What is not to love? At my usual haunt, a collegue linked this, knowing it would make me crazy.

Ah, what looks like a bear suit!

Yes to my girl – she is a short-haired brunette with a nice smile. There is something about a girl squatting which has always pleased me too.

She is just a girl off the cover of a women’s magazine called Family Circle.

Could it be that God and nature built into men different attraction triggers? We can’t all be chasing the same girl. That would be a disaster from the standpoint of propagating the species.

I don’t know. It’s a deep question. I have written a long post here about why short-haired women turn me on.

And there are theories about why we find some people attractive. Chemistry. Literally. Detection of compatible genetics.

It also seems to me that there are some women whom people generally agree are attractive. And others that have a more limited appeal.

The women’s magazines my wife buys generally have a woman on the cover who is either a generically attractive blonde or brunette. With long hair. Females like the one I have posted above, with shorter hair, are less common.

Mind you, I have toyed with the idea that there is an element of active homosexuality in my preference for short-haired boyish women. Just an element.

You may have missed the mark on that point. Someone else mentioned that we acquire fetishes through sexual success and that we tend to stick with what works. There is so little we truly understand about attraction.

I am certainly not wedded to any particular theory. I feel that we associate certain things with sexual interest because they were there when we first became sexually aware. Others are perhaps innate to most men or inborn in particular individuals.

There is “genetic similarity theory” which suggests we like people best who resemble us genetically.

To take a familiar example, why are so many men turned on by women in stockings? It used to be said that it was because women used to wear them so men liked them. But they don’t much any more in everyday life: women now mostly wear pantihose. And yet men don’t find pantihose sexy. So why are stockings still sexy? Is it something about the way they look? Or is it the influence of pornographic inagery? Who knows?

The last time I saw a woman wearing stockings for real was probably in about 1974 in Tasmania. (Although women do apparently still wear stay-ups or thigh-highs a bit.)
