The girl in the old photo

So, says the girl in the old photo,

another calendar year ticks over,

and you are further away than ever.

It is hardly my fault that I was young

and pretty and in every way your type,

one hundred years ago.

And she seems to say, I have seen

you looking at me, still young in

black and white, bone of your bone.

It isn’t fair.
