Body language in another old photo of a married couple

Above are two of my maternal ancestors, a husband and wife in their younger years. I have seen this particular body language before, for example in modern role playing of old-style marriage photos: that is, the man looks directly at the camera, and the wife looks into the distance, as if contemplating the future.

  1. Especially what to expect in the marriage bed. Anxiety-provoking for any woman.

Well, I suspect that photo was taken after that stage.

The dangers of childbirth were probably of more concern.

Have any idea when this photo was taken?

The couple were married in 1841, both probably at the age of 30. The photo is described as being “in their younger years.”

So, given their appearance, I would guess about 1845.
