Vettriano is an unusual artist. Not just because he is a Scotsman with an Italian surname, or even that he is a popular but not a critical success.

No, he is unusual because he paints masculine men and feminine women. A lot of his work has a retro look but he nevertheless clearly embraces the sexual polarity that emerges.
