Why don’t girls skip any more?

An animation I found at a Facebook site on skipping:

What I wrote about women skipping and jumping for joy previously.

It is delightfully neotenic (childlike). I remember my young wife jumping for joy sometimes.

  1. I used to skip, but I broke myself. I did so until my mid-30s, fwiw. While singing, “We’re off to see the wizard” arm-in-arm with my BFF. Not drunk.

My wife used to jump in excitement sometimes. It was very cute.

There is a funny scene in The Belier Family where the mother of the family dances nervously on one spot. Very French I suppose.

      • I enjoyed it. In a more honest answer, being childlike in public is no longer acceptable. Even for children. :p When was the last time you saw two girls skipping hand in hand?

I saw a young girl skipping beside her mother at the local shopping centre not long ago. It was such an unusual sight that I would like to have filmed it with my mobile phone, except that is also something you can’t really do. It reminded me how rarely I had seen anyone skip in recent times.

This is quite an entertaining video, and for some reason it contains a sequence of a girl demonstrating skipping:
