An actress who never did a sex scene

Occasionally, I have had people come here searching on something like “Carolyn Farina sex scenes”. I got one today.

As I have written before, she never did a sex scene. By far her most important role was “Audrey Rouget” in Metropolitan (1990), director Whit Stillman’s first film. There has been increasing interest in this movie of late because of its current 25th anniversary of release.

To take one example, here is a recent good brief appraisal of the film, which supplies this picture of Carolyn Farina as “Audrey Rouget”, which I take to be what is called a “production still”:

Despite that image, “Audrey” has no “bedroom scenes” other than in her chaste boudoir. She does appear in a kind of “nightmare” sequence in her slip, in the arms of the villain of the movie, Rick von Sloneker. However it is not really that kind of movie. There is a “strip poker” sequence in the film, an image from which was featured on some VHS covers, but the young women in that scene only strip down to their underwear, and in any case Carolyn Farina, as “Audrey”, does not take part.

It is amusing to see how this scene from the film:

becomes this on the VHS cover art:

I have written a very comprehensive appreciation of the actress here, which attempts among other things to answer the question of what happened to her career. The comments carry on the discussion, and the later comments bring the story of the movie and the actress up to date with references to some of the activities in New York in relation to the films’s 25th anniversary of release.

The life career of the imaginary “Audrey Rouget” has some interesting “red pill” implications which would probably interest the Manosphere. For example, I have touched on these issues here.
