“It’s Alive!”

Some years ago I discussed the possibility that piezoelectricity deep in the earth could have promoted the formation of the molecules of life.

More recently, it occurred to me that, since common minerals like quartz produce electric sparks when they are struck, like this:

meteorites striking the earth could also have produced piezoelectric sparks and promoted the formation of living molecules. Lightning is often discussed in this context, but I have yet to see a reference to piezoelectricity.
